Schools at Risk
schools within A 1 mile of pesticide usage sites
-
Children have developing bodies that are far more vulnerable to pesticide exposure, especially when applications occur near schools, homes, and play areas. Health risks associated with this exposure are as follows, harmful to brain development, respiratory harm and asthma risk, increased risk of childhood cancer, and endocrine disruption and hormone interference.
The harsh truth is that repeated use of toxic pesticide mixtures near schools places our keiki at disproportionate risk during the most vulnerable stages of their lives, when exposure can shape health outcomes for decades to come.
